Job Summary

The Pallet Repair Operator refurbishes damaged Chep pooled pallets ( Block or Stringer ) that weigh up to 55 Ibs using speed, accuracy, and detail that meet company standards for safety, security, and productivity while adhering to Chep's quality criteria. Fast-paced production environment that requires meeting and exceeding production quotas on a daily basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Ready to work at the start-up meeting at the top of the hour (7h00,15h00 or 23h00)

- Pre-shift stretching mandatory

- Comply with zero harm procedures and safe work practices while using the provided personal protection equipment (PPE) at all times while performing job duties

- Ensure that daily inspection of tools, work station, and checklists are completed

- Pull pallets on to workbench

- Inspects pallet visually for compliance with criteria (including contamination policy and scrap criteria >12 components)

- Remove damaged boards with crowbar, hammer, and/or saw

- Cut or hammer down bent or broken nails

- Attach pre-cut boards according to Chep spec using pneumatic nail guns

- Mark pallet with quality ID number

- Production rejects at secondary inspection must be less than 10% of the repaired volume

- Restock building supplies at the end of shift

- Clean personal pallet repair area during and at end of shift

- Meets or exceed daily production target

- May be required to work overtime during the week or weekend

- All other duties as assigned( pallet repair, sorting, manual sorting, cleaning, etc) to support and improve the overall team operations

- Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules are subject to change to meet company needs and business requirements

Experience and Requirements

- Chep pooled pallet repair experience preferred

- Some experience in construction, carpentry, landscaping, and/or related fields

- Ability to safely operate power tools

- Ability to safely use basic hand tools

- Ability to understand and follow instructions

- Ability to communicate effectively

- Good attendance and punctuality record

- Ability to accept responsibility and accountability for the actions

Physical Demands

- Frequent lifting, pulling, flipping of 55 Ibs pallets

- Ability to stand and walking for extended periods of time ( at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8 hour day)

- Able to twist, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis

- Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

- The work environment consists of occasional seasonal temperature shifts ranging from cold to very hot

- Exposure to dust and loud noise (hearing protection is provided)

-Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moving forklifts

- Scheduled 8 hours per day (30 minutes paid lunch, 2 paid 15-minute breaks, 15 minutes paid clean-up and stocking period at the end of the shift)

Dress Code

-A Chep uniform will be provided and worn every day starting after 3 months of service


-Hire 17.21 for 120 pallets

-After 8 weeks 19.36 for 180+ pallets

-Pay will be direct deposit every 2 weeks
